Steps to create new users on ptagis web site August 25, 2004
I have the task of creating the following user accounts in production: chipmanr, ribarg, sukhatankarp, nagym
On production, the Login > New account section has been disabled to keep people from adding accounts willy nilly. But if you know the URL, the section is still active and usable. The URL is:
http://test.ptagis.org/ptagis/createAccount.jsp
Needed information is: username, first name, last name, organization, phone, email, dept, title, fax, address, city, state, zip, country, In this case, I got this information from an email sent by Marton. For people related to PSMFC, this user information should come from the file blueback:/home/pittag/doc/Web_Development/ldap.csv
Copy the ldap.csv from blueback to a local machine so that changes can be made to the file.
Confirm that the user information exists in ldap.csv and that the user does not already have an account created. After an account is created, a "Y" is addded in the PTAGISAccountCreated column.
Confirm that the user does not already have an LDAP entry in the PSMFC system. If so, then refer to the special directions for handling the creation of a PTAGIS account for someone with an existing LDAP entry. A simple test to determine if the user has a PSMFC LDAP entry is to finger them on reedi:

After creating the account, login, and go to Manage account > Manage
Accounts to change the group membership.
Sitescape group membership need to be updated independently. Go to the Manage Account > Manage Accounts page. Select the user and add them to the appropriate groups.
It used to be necessary to follow this procedure to add them to groups using the Sitescape admin gui. If the users are members of the steering committee group, then log into the Sitescape admin tool. In the workspace toolbar, there is a manage section. Choose Groups from the dropdown list. Choose List, modify, or delete groups. Click on the group name, then select Modify membership. Stylereport folders on longer need to be created independently. The following procedure used to be necessary. After the account is created, the password is available in the LDAP directory.
Adding the user to Team Workspaces must be done through the Sitescape admin gui. For instance, when given the directive for a user:
Please verifiy that he is is a member of the team workspaces for AB1, AB2, CR1, CR2, WW1, WW2.
Log in to the Sitescape admin gui and scroll down to the team workspaces and click on AB1. Under Team Tools, select Change Team Membership Add the user. Repeat for each site. Verify team membership by looking at the user profile. The list of all group memberships is in the profile.
