Subject: Corner collector project

Hi Kimberly.,

Here are two reports. One, a summary of the milestones of the Corner Collector Project with comments on the achievements and the other a report regarding the present condition of the antenna at Bonneville with additional test results aiming to improve its performance.

I have also attached a comparative graft indicating the current activation capabilities of the antenna before leaving Anacortes on June 8, 2004 and the other at Bonneville at the present time. Both tests were with identical procedures.

If you have any comments please let me know.,

Subject: RE: High Q Data

Hi Jeff/Kim, at the present we arepreparing a plan suggesting our actions to move forward in completing the work necessary to get all the data that we need for the electronic part of the development and at the same time reach conclusions with the status of the present test High-Q antenna. Jon Muller is preparing the plan and we expect to send you tomorrow. Prior to the meeting of the 13th. we suggest to have a conference call meeting.

Kim, because of the recent personnel changes that have occurred with Digital Angel, I think it would be prudent for the folks at Digital Angel to come out here and meet with everyone involved in the Hi-Q PIT detection program and discuss how we proceed from here.

Subject: High Q Data

Carter ET All,

I am attaching the Data that Scott and I logged on Thursday during the "ground soaking test" and the Friday's "tank filling test". I did observe some very interesting actions on Friday afternoon. Once the water had reached the skid plate and just crested over the inside bottom of the antenna I began to see the Rs (resistance) and "Q" began to act erratically. I started to see -numbers (negative resistance and "Q"), I was monitoring all four antennas in parallel, see chart below:

TIME WATER LEVEL Ls Rs Q

12:41 2 " 502.8 5.51 77.2

13:18 ~ 3 Ft. 448 +/- 585.7M -541.5

13:18 ~ 3 Ft. 625.4 1.71 305*

13:35 ~ 39" 394.5 -17.5 -20.1

13:40 ~ 39" 577.4 -3.5 -141.3*

13:45 ~ 44" 378.2 -7.6 -41.6

The two readings with the (*) were just the drive antenna's in parallel. The water was shut off at about 14:00 hrs. and this behavior continued until about 16:45 hrs. during which time I spoke with Sean Casey and Yuri from Digital Angel. About 15:00 hrs they had me cut two (2) wraps off of the two (2) outside (receive) antenna's and then splice them back into the terminal block. The Ls dropped from 503.9 to 348.12 the Rs and "Q" were still bouncing and giving out negative numbers. I last spoke with Yuri at about 16:30 and it was decided that I would take the last measurements and record the negative numbers. At about 16:45 something changed, it was as if someone had flipped a switch, I was talking with Scott Livingston on the phone and observed the antenna "stabilize" I watch the LCR meter for about 10 minutes and then told Scott that I thought that the antenna had stabilized. We decided to try and Drive the antenna the results are in the spreadsheet. Although we did not drive it well we did get an improvement over what was observed on Thursday. I took all the readings and logged the Data. I left a little after 18:00 hrs and the antenna had not changed, I was hoping that the water would stay in the tank until Monday so that I could see if there were any changes in the antenna, but when I arrived on Monday I found that the tank had leaked and there was only enough water to get to the shield. The Data did not indicate that there was any change since Friday. I tried to Drive the two (2) drive antenna's and found that I only could get whatever I put in, There may be some driver issues PSMFC does have a dummy load that can be applied to the amplifier to check the circuitry for operations.

The antenna was tested on 9/2 by PTAGIS personell . The Excel SS has been updated and posted to this forum.

Communication from BPA to DA re: lifting antenna

Subject: raising the titanic (corner collector)

Hi Jon,

I just talked with Don Erickson and let him know that we're interested in raising the antenna. He doesn't think they're ready for that yet. He thought we agreed to let it dry completely out. (We did talk about letting it dry for about a month, but I questioned the point of letting it dry out longer if we aren't even sure it leaked.). Also, they want to cut into the sides that aren't visible in order to get a camera down to inspect for cracks. Can I let him know that you're ready for them to cut into it after you finish this week's testing? He just wants to make sure we do everything possible before going to the extra expense of lifting it. So, I told him that we are about at that point. He is going to check with Scott Apple about the timeframe of when the Corps might be ready to raise the antenna. I'll let you know when I hear more. Also, I let him know that you definitely want to be there when it gets lifted so that you can take measurements when it's about a foot off the floor. So, we'll see what he comes back with.

Could you send me a quick email letting me know when you're gone again. Thanks, -Kim
