The Columbia Basin PIT Tag Information System (PTAGIS) was implemented in 1991 to manage the collection, correlation, and exchange of PIT tag data from the Columbia and Snake rivers and their tributaries. PTAGIS encompasses dedicated data collection software, a centralized relational database management system, and standardized data descriptions and reporting processes.

The PIT Tag Specification Document (PTSD) provides the details of the expected format and content of data files contributed to the PTAGIS database. The "Spec Doc" also provides information regarding additional processes and activities of general shared interest to PIT tag researchers and other parties in the Columbia Basin.
