Redesign site map
From PTAGISWiki
The current flash-driven site map looks like this:
The map is composed of two flash components that try to communicate to each other and don't always get it right. It is possible to click on a site in the left menu and get a report for a different site in the right pane. Also the map doesn't load automatically at first visit, making it necessary to go through the steps of
- click on a site category
- click on a site
- click on view reports for that site
- click on view map for that site
The large number of sites also presents a problem to users trying to browse.
Category redesign
One way to ease the task of browsing is to have more categories with fewer sites in each category.
Current categories
- Tagging/Release/Recapture
- Juvenile interrogation
- Adult interrogation
- Separation by code
Possible new categories based on activity type
- Tagging
- Release
- Recapture
- Interrogation traps
- In-stream interrogation
- Acclimation pond interrogation
- Juvenile collection facility interrogation
- Adult ladder interrogation
- Trawl interrogation
- Separation by code
Other high-level categories for browsing:
- HUC (hydrologic unit code)
- RKM (river kilometer)
- site name
- activity type (as listed above)
