Objective
This procedure ensures that the proper configuration exist within the Multimon hardware configuration file.
Scope
This procedure is exclusive to a platform running Multimon.exe only. The generic configuration file contains the basic essentials in order for a platform to effectively collect PIT-tag data.
Responsibilities
It will be the responsibility of the PTAGIS Field (O&M) group to ensure that this generic file is configured correctly and installed at the start of pre-season in order to function test the basic operations of a facility. It will also be the responsibility of the PTAGIS O&M group to archive this file on the PSMFC FTP server in the appropriate directory, with the standard naming convention outlined in this document. It will be the responsibility of the SByC coordinator to modify the base configuration file as necessary to meet the SbyC requirements, properly install the files on the interrogation computers, and archive the modified files on the PSMFC FTP server, in the appropriate directory, with the standard naming convention.
Procedure
Generic Hardware File Creation for Primary Computer.
Reference document Multimon.exe manual for instructions on how to perform tasks that are required in this document.
Create File From Scratch
- From the Multimon main menu,
- press "H" (Hardware and Computer Directories Page)
- Press "L" (Load Hardware File)delete the information at the end of the directory string *.HW? and enter <3-digit site code>.HW1
- After loading the file with the appropriate name, press "S" to save the hardware configuration file into Multimon and as <SiteCode>-GEN.HW1.
Edit File and Verify the Following Parameters are Correct
- Verify proper Rocket Port channel is set for “Primary”
- Verify that the Rocket Port channels controlling gate functions are set “High” priority and all other ports are set to “Low” priority.
- Verify that the number of files created per day is set to “8”
- Verify that the tag database size is set to 1 million tag codes.
- Save file in the same format indicated in above section "Create File From Scratch"
Generic Hardware File Creation for Back-up Computer
- Load the hardware configuration file for the primary computer into Multimon on the back up computer and save as <SiteCode>-GEN.HW2
Edit file and verify the following parameters are correct.
- Verify proper Rocket Port channel is set for “Back-up”
- Edit computer and directory page, Ensure that the path to the data directory is c:/Multimon/PC2Data.
- Save file in the same format indicated in "Create File From Scratch"
- Remove any other configuration files from the c:\Multimon\System directory that do not reference the backup computer.
- Archive both .HW1 and .HW2 files in the appropriate directory located on the PSMFC FTP server or Wiki page.(Not Yet Linked)
- Notify the SbyC Coordinator that the files are available on the FTP server or Wiki page.
