Objective

This document provides an equipment list and specifications related to the PIT-tag room, Network Interface Panel.

Scope

The scope of this document will be limited to equipment requirements that provide a persistent Internet connection and telephone service to the PIT-tag room. The information in this document is specific to the LAN network and does not provide information with regards to communication either to or from the transceivers. It more specifically addresses the equipment requirements and specifications rather than installation procedures.

Responsibilities

Generally, the contractor building the PIT-tag room will mount the cabinet to wall at the appropriate location described in Drawing PIT-Tag Room Layout PTAGIS Kennewick Field Operations personnel will make all the inter connections, device configurations and be responsible for successful operation.

Procedure

Network Interface Cabinet. Equipment List and Requirements.

A standard 19” network cabinet shall be provided and adequately sized to accommodate all the necessary devices (see typical equipment list below).

  1. Typical cabinet: 24”w x 22.5”h x 15”d double hinged, wall mount enclosure w/ 19” rack angles and shelves. PT# Hoffman Pt# E-WM242215.
  2. 2 port Ethernet media converter, 10baseT, base – FL ST type MM fiber input port, RJ-45 output port.
  3. Typically, a 12 port fiber optic patch panel (housing 9.25”h x 13.25”w x 3.25”d) wall mounted with two hinged doors plus panels preloaded with MM “ST” connector coupling bushings will be required for interfacing the network and telephone services from remote locations.
  4. Network Interface Cabinet to be mounted in the location as specified in PIT-Tag Room Layout
  5. 12 port rack mount 10baseT / RJ-45 patch panel. 19”

Telephony devices

Some installations will require copper to fiber converters in order to provide dial tone to the PIT-tag room. If so, the listed device below has been chosen as the standard.

  • Fiber/Copper telephone transmitter and receiver Pt# IFS tt2010/tr2010.

F.O. Patch Cables.

  1. The number of patch cables required for interfacing the FO patch panel to the network cabinet will be determinate on the number of devices requiring an FO link Regardless, the patch cables specifications are: ST-ST DX 62.5/125um UL TYPE OFNR 1 meter.
