Objective

To document the internal settings of the PTTP application to ensure proper operation routing of interrogation data files.

Scope

The standalone PTTP uploader application is generally and almost exclusively used for file transfers to PTAGIS on a Multimon.exe interrogation platform. Note that this application is a Windows app. and Multimon is a DOS based application.

Responsibilities

In General, PTAGIS Field Operations will be responsible for the proper installation and configuration of all internal settings and directory paths.

Procedure

Install PTTP Application (Ver. 1.1.6)

  1. The application can be retrieved at ftp.ptagis.org/software/Minimon/Uploader116.exe
  2. Install application as you would any other Windows application. Click on the executable file to start the installation.


Configure the application

  1. From the main window, click the "Configure Button"

Connection Tab

  1. In most installations, a Local Area Network Connection is available. Therefore Check the radio button accordingly. If Dial up Connection is going to be used, first set up a Dial-Up Network Connection in Windows Control Panel, then choose "Use Dial-Up Connection" and pick the appropriate connection.
  2. FTP Action Time Setting, generally set to 0 by default.
  3. FTP Passive Mode should be checked.By default, this option is unchecked and will transfer in the Active Mode. From experience, the Passive Mode seems to be the most reliable.
  • User Name is: ptoc.
  • Password is:Secret. Passwords are "Case Sensitive"
  • Remote Server:ftp.ptagis.org
  • Site Code:Any valid 3-digit site code recognized by PTAGIS.

The picture below shows the dialog box that appears if you click 3 times inside the green PTAGIS logo. Follow the instructions displayed if your not sure of what to do. Main Page

General Tab

  1. Data Path:C:\Multimon\PCxData. The xspecifies the variable for either the Primary=1 or Backup computer=2
Example:Primary computer=PC1Data
  1. Temp Path:Leave as Default.This is place holder the application to use.
  2. Archive:C:\Multimon\Archive
  • Simple Archive should be checked.This option will present the data archive in the most simplest form, no sub directories will be created, all files will be stored in the Archive directory in alphabetical order.
  • Structured Archive will create separate folders for each weeks data set.
  • Compress Archive will zip 1 weeks data
  • Manual Upload Only: Requires human intervention to upload files, Auto Upload is disabled.
  • Automated Upload Every "n" hrs=3 The 3 hr interval is a PTAGIS standard setting.
  • Synchronize on the hr is "checked" and delay=15 seconds.
  • Save Acknowledgment File is "checked"

Diagnostics Tab

  • Test Button: Allows one to validate the file transfers settings to PTAGIS without impacting other processes.By pressing this button,an FTP transaction is initiated. The authentication process is checked for valid information along with checking the LAN or Dial-up connection being used.
  • Stop Button:Stops pending processes.
  • Clear Button:Clears information in the screen.
  • Ping Button:Sends the "Ping"Command to ftp.ptagis.org to check for connectivity.Certain networks may not allow the "Ping" through, so keep in mind it may fail for this reason.
  • Winsock Button:Checks and displays the current Winsock.dll file that operating system is using.

Auto Start Instructions

The following will allow the PTTP application to autostart when the operating system is started.

  1. From the "Program Files" navigate to the PTTP folder.
  2. Drag the PTTP application and pin it to the start up menu in Windows.
  3. Edit the properties of the short cut with the following information.Refer to Picture below.
