Extended Data Dictionary
Most database systems have facilities for describing data about the data stored in the system [cite sql server, oracle and ingres facilities].
The PTAGIS project uses a set of tables to capture metadata about tables, columns and domains in use in the PTAGIS server environment. These tables are stored in the g2_ptagis3 database on sockeye.
This spreadsheet can be used to set up data definitions which can easily be imported into the extended data dictionary.
